Green can be used inside or out but green is much more visible outside and can be used to engage targets in similar circumstances. Not sure it makes that much difference in laser sights. The number one reason to use a green laser is daytime visibility. The eye s frequency response is bell curve shaped with the highest point of the curve being in the green while the red lies on the right end of the bell curve.

Red light waves range from 620 to 750 nanometers and green light ranges from 495 to 570 nanometers.
